Panini Adds University of Texas as Another College Card Exclusive
Panini America's portfolio of college trading card exclusives is growing once again. First came deals with Kentucky, Georgia and Miami. Next was a large agreement that covered more than 200 additional schools including Baylor. Now, Panini has hooked the University of Texas Longhorns.
Like the other deals, collectors will find players in their Longhorns gear in both pro sports sets and others focused strictly on college. The agreement with Texas also includes a commitment from Panini to produce sets that focus exclusively on the university's athletic programs and other famous alumni.
If it wasn't apparent already, it should be now that the college trading card landscape is changing. Upper Deck has held an exclusive CLC deal since 2010. One of their sets did center on the Longhorns football program. Upper Deck has gone on record as saying that their CLC deal doesn't run out until 2015.
Panini's first college cards with their new exclusives are slated to arrive in the spring of 2015.
