Rookies Rule the 2012-13 NBA Hoops Hot List

Rookies Rule the 2012-13 NBA Hoops Hot List

Based on the first ten days of sales, one thing is pretty clear with 2012-13 NBA Hoops -- collectors are excited to see cards from two year's worth of rookies. Each of the top 19 2012-13 NBA Hoops single-card sales recorded on eBay through August 27 are autographs of either Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis.

Leading all sales was a 2012-13 NBA Hoops Rookie Impact Kyrie Irving autograph, which finished at $379. Two additional copies of the card sold for $250 each. Irving's base set autograph parallel also made several appearances on the list of top sales, the highest one of which sold for $365.

The other highlight in early 2012-13 NBA Hoops eBay sales in Anthony Davis. Collectors appear to believe the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft is the real deal. His autographed base set parallel accounts for nearly half of the top 20 sales thus far. Of the nine that appear on the list, the highest price recorded thus far is $299.95. A redemption card for an Anthony Davis Draft Night Signatures card sold for $238.

Besides Irving and Davis, the only other player to break the top 20 was Kevin Durant. A copy of his short print commemorative insert went for an even $150. The card is modeled after a similar Kobe Bryant Black Mamba card that is a part of 2011-12 NBA Hoops. The card was originally going to read, "Durantula," but a lawsuit likely led to the subtle change.

Considering the low price point for 2012-13 NBA Hoops, many of these prices are impressive. None of the cards are serial numbered. The Irving autographs are done on stickers. They prices may not match up with those of a high-end release, but it does show there's significant demand for the first pack-inserted autographs of the last two top NBA draft picks.
