EA Sports has announced a Madden NFL 12 Hall of Fame edition that should have special appeal to football card collectors. This limited version of the game showcases current Hall of Fame inductee Marshall Faulk on the cover. Each of the 125,000 copies will contain one of four autographed Panini cards from Faulk. Gamers will also receive a 13-card set of in-game cards highlighting past Madden cover stars.
Besides the four autographs, two signed 18k gold cards of Faulk will be randomly inserted into the special edition (one copy each for XBOX 360 and PS3). Lastly, each of the limited edition games will contain an exclusive Madden Ultimate Team Platinum Pack from Panini. Besides Faulk, the 13-card in-game set includes Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Rod Woodson, Eddie George, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, Ray Lewis, Shaun Alexander, Vince Young, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu and Drew Brees. These virtual cards will have a player rating based on the depicted star's best season. The cards are also fully renewable with contract extensions.
Faulk first appeared on a cover of Madden in 2003. The HOF edition will include an embossed bronze foil image of the former Rams running back to further distinguish it from the regular version featuring Peyton Hills.
Madden NFL 12 is scheduled for release on August 30th. The HOF edition carries a suggested price of $89.99 while the regular edition will retail for $59.99 on PS3 and XBOX 360. Madden NFL 12 will have additional versions on the PSP, PS2, Wii and 3DS platforms.
