Kobe Bryant Gets His Own 2012-13 Panini Basketball Card Set
It wasn't long after Panini landed the exclusive NBA card license that they also got Kobe Bryant to be their marquee spokesperson. Over the past few years, the Lakers superstar has been used extensively throughout Panini's sets and promotions. Now the card manufacturer is poised to take it up a notch with an all-Kobe set in 2012-13.
But there's a catch.
Panini's planned set for the Black Mamba will be spread across all their 2012-13 basketball card releases. Every box will come with a bonus Kobe Bryant pack. It won't replace any other guaranteed hits or content either.
While still in the planning stages, Panini does intend to include autographs and memorabilia cards in the program as well.
Upper Deck did something similar in 2001 with their Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio Pinstripe Exclusives sets that spread across several baseball sets.
