Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig and Jim Thorpe Part of Legends Deal for Panini

Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig and Jim Thorpe Part of Legends Deal for Panini

A new agreement between Panini and CMG Worldwide gives the card manufacturer access to several baseball legends.

Under the agreement, Panini will be able to produce cards of Roy Campanella, Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, Walter Johnson, Johnny Mize, Thurman Munson, Mel Ott,  Jackie Robinson and Jim Thore. Panini will begin inserting them into products beginning with 2011 Panini Prime Cuts in the spring.

It will be interesting to see if Panini opts for an all-legends product, something Topps hasn't been able to do because of its agreement with MLB and the MLBPA. This deal would certainly give them the roster to do it.
