Jack Eichel Signs Exclusive Autograph Card Deal with Leaf

Jack Eichel Signs Exclusive Autograph Card Deal with Leaf

One of the top young prospects in hockey, Jack Eichel autograph cards are now exclusive to Leaf Trading Card products. As the second overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, this will be big news for many NHL collectors.

Following a stellar college career at Boston University, Jack Eichel is touted by many as one of the most NHL-ready players from the draft. The deal is even more notable as Eichel does not have any previous signed cards, so his Leaf autograph cards will be the only options for the first several years of his NHL career. Eichel will be featured in all 2015-16 Leaf Hockey products, with the first option being 2015 Superlative Hockey (November, 2015).

Leaf CEO Brian Gray described the agreement by saying, "This is probably the most exciting day of my career at Leaf Trading Cards." Although the exact deal was not disclosed, Gray mentioned, "This is easily the most lucrative autograph trading deal for an rookie in the history of the sport. He joins the ranks of LeBron James, Cam Newton and Kris Bryant as the largest rookie autograph deals in their respective sport. We think Jack is the kind of special athlete that deserves to join this elite club."

While his hype is not at the same level as the top overall pick from 2015, Connor McDavid, it means collectors will have to look in different places to obtain signatures for the two young stars since McDavid is exclusive to Upper Deck. Upper Deck also holds the NHL exclusive.

What a joke!? How in the world UD did not get his signature? Anyhow, as Eric said, I will not buy Leaf products even like this.

Well I guess that means no Eichel autos for me as I will never buy anything from Leaf. Gray must have made some nice coin from repacking everyone else’s product.

dan » Yes. Upper Deck will still have unsigned rookie cards but the only signed cards for Eichel will come from Leaf.
