The popular trading card game (TCG) is among the biggest movers in the card collecting industry and the hottest Pokemon trading cards continue to see strong demand and high prices.
The Pokemon TCG franchise, which debuted in 1996, celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021, adding more fuel to the fire. Per eBay, Pokemon trading card sales increased 574% from 2019 to 2020.
Although not nearly on the same level, the Funko Pop Pokemon figures are another notable collectible.
Hottest Pokemon Trading Cards
As is the case with many collectibles, some of the earliest Pokemon trading cards tend to be the most popular. This is especially true of the initial Japanese releases and the 1999 Pokemon 1st Edition cards.
While there are obviously many different character options for Pokemon cards, the key choices tend to be Charizard and Pikachu.
