Have You Got What It Takes to Be a Bowman Scout?

Have You Got What It Takes to Be a Bowman Scout? 1Topps is launching a new program aimed at the hobby's super prospectors. They're looking for two people to become the Bowman Scouts.

The role comes with several duties that gives the collector and insider's look into the making of 2013 Bowman products. Working with the brand's staff throughout the season, the Bowman Scouts will help pick top young players. This will lead to the Bowman Top 100 Prospect list. Further interviews, hosted by the scouts, will be held to continue to evaluate prospects as the year progresses. They will also contribute weekly on the Bowman social media platforms.

The Bowman Scouts will get their own insert card in a 2013 product. They also receive six boxes of 2013 Bowman cards. There is no cash prize with the contest.

Those interested in becoming a Bowman Scout must fill out an application. Applications must include a short essay explaining why they feel they should be picked. Photos and videos can also be submitted to make an application stronger. Submissions must be emailed to BowmanScout@topps.com by November 15, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST.

Those who make it past the initial round of judging will do a phone interview with the judging panel. From there, two winners will be picked.

To be eligible, collectors must be 18 or older and live in the United States or Canada. A complete list of rules is available here.

Ryan is a former member of The Cardboard Connection Writing Staff.   His collecting origins began with winter bike rides to the corner store, tossing a couple of quarters onto the counter and peddling home with a couple packs of O-Pee-Chee hockey in his pocket. Today, he continues to build sets, go after inserts with cool technologies, chase Montreal Expos and finish off his John Jaha master collection.
