2013 IDW Limited Mars Attacks Sketch Cards 1

Most people connect Mars Attacks with trading cards and the Tim Burton movie. The franchise also has a fairly long history with comics, most recently with IDW Publishing. A new pair of IDW Limited Mars Attacks Deluxe Hardcovers not only gives the current comic line the premium treatment, but it has a little something for card collectors as well. Both versions of the hardcover include exclusive Mars Attacks sketch cards.

The IDW Limited Mars Attacks Deluxe Hardcover Red Label version that is limited to 250 copies and costs $125. The more exclusive Blue Label version is limited to just 50 copies and carries a price tag of $400. Red Label hardcovers have one sketch card while Blue Labels have four Mars Attacks sketch cards. For the Blue Label books, all four sketch cards are from the same artist and fit together like a puzzle.

The hardcover itself collects the first five issues of IDW's ongoing Mars Attacks comic. It is signed by both the writer, John Layman and artist, John McCrea. The package comes housed in a hand-built tray.

The sketch card design is similar to the one used in 2012 Topps Mars Attacks Heritage. The sketch cards from the hardcover have a small IDW Limited label toward the bottom of the card.
