Cryptozoic Lands Pacific Rim Trading Card License
The entertainment trading card landscape has changed a lot in the last decade. Collectors used to be able to count on sets from the biggest blockbusters. But unless you're something established like Star Wars, a Marvel film or something with a boy with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, you're going to be hard-pressed to find much else. But it looks like an exception to the new landscape is on the way. Cryptozoic has acquired the Pacific Rim trading card license.
The sci-fi film, which stars Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman from Sons of Anarchy, hits theaters in July. Idris Elba from Thor and TV's The Wire also stars.Directed by Guillermo del Toro, it promises aliens, robots and a whole lot of mayhem.
Cryptozoic is still very early in the planning stages for the set. They weren't able to confirm if it would be ready in time for the movie's theatrical run. They're also still working on what will go into the product. The license also includes "trading card accessories," which should translate into binders.
Stay tuned for more information on Cryptozoic's Pacific Rim trading cards as it becomes available.
