All You Need to Know About 2012 Bowman Black Autographs
Black autographs are nothing new. But that doesn't make them any less impressive. And despite their increased availability over the past couple of years, these striking signatures are still the exception. 2012 Bowman Black doesn't break any ground stylistically, but the limited insert has created some continuity throughout the brand's many lines.
Each of the five 2012 Bowman-brand sets have 25 different Bowman Black cards. All are numbered to 25.
The horizontal cards all have the same design. They're dominated by a black backdrop with a player photo on the right. All are also signed in silver, further adding to the continuity throughout the various sets.
The 2012 Bowman Black checklist consists entirely of rookies and top prospects. Bryce Harper, Yu Darvish, Dylan Bundy, Jackie Bradley Jr, Nick Castellanos, Danny Hultzen and Billy Hamilton are among those in the set.
Several of the cards are inserted as redemptions. 2012 Bowman Platinum, in particular, has a lot. More than half of those allocated for the set were not returned in time for the pack out.
2012 Bowman Black cards are also extremely condition sensitive. The dark design causes any sort of nick or surface blemish to show. The cards are especially prone to chipping along the edges and corner dings.
