Andrew Luck Signs Autograph Deal with Press Pass
Collectors wanting to get lucky with Andrew Luck autographs will have to look for Press Pass products, at least when it comes to cards not licensed by the NFL. Press Pass has announced a deal with the highly touted quarterback that gives them exclusive trading card and autograph rights for non-NFL football cards. It keeps Upper Deck, SAGE and Leaf from producing any more Luck cards for the time being.
The first Andrew Luck autographs are scheduled for 2012 Press Pass Rookie Football in late-March release. The signature-heavy set will also include autographs from Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson and Michael Floyd. Signatures in the set will be on-card.
Press Pass also plans to have Andrew Luck autographs in 2012 Press Pass FanFare Football and 2012 Press Pass Showcase Football. FanFare, which will have autographs on chromium cards, is slated for an April release, while Showcase follows in May. This marks the first time Press Pass is bringing its high-end Showcase brand to football.
The deal does not carry over to NFL sets after Luck is drafted. This means collectors can expect tons from Panini and Topps by the time summer rolls around.
Andrew Luck is one of the most hyped quarterbacks to come out of the NCAA in some time. A two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up, he is the favorite to go first overall at the 2012 NFL Draft in April. Leading the Stanford offense, Luck's accolades include being named the Pac 10/12 Offensive Player of the Year in both 2010 and 2011, the 2011 Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award winner as player of the year and 2011 Orange Bowl MVP. The two-time All-American also holds several conference and school passing records.
