Returning for a second season, the 2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback promotion again grants collectors store credit at their local Hobby shop in exchange for base cards and parallels of the most valuable players.
The program officially began in November, after the 2023 MLB MVPs were announced for the American League (Shohei Ohtani) and National League (Ronald Acuña Jr).
2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback Promotion Details
Similar to the 2022 program, the 2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback promotion highlights the top two players for the regular season.
Because Topps revealed the 2023 MVP Buyback edition well in advance, collectors had ample time to start thinking about which base cards to set aside, with Ohtani and Acuña among the obvious favorites.
Of course, there are many Chrome MLB sets each year so Topps clarified that the applicable products this time are 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball and 2023 Topps Chrome Logofractor Edition Baseball.
2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback Program Featured Products
Once the base cards are acquired, simply visit a participating card store. Each redeemed base card earns $20 in store credit, with more credit available for Refractors. The cards don't have to be in mint condition.
While there is no set limit for the maximum number of cards redeemed per person, shops can make the final decision.
Those without a store nearby can take advantage of Topps' mail-in partners: Dave & Adam's, Midwest Cards or Steel City Cards.
To be clear, the only cards eligible for the 2023 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback promotion are the base cards and base parallels of the 2023 MVPs. Inserts and autographs are not part of the buyback.

The card maker also made it known that a select number of the 2022 buybacks were stamped and inserted into 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball. If Aaron Judge or Paul Goldschmidt had repeated as MVP, Topps teased that something "big" would have been in the mix for anyone who pulled the stamped '22 cards. On top of that, 22 copies carry the added signature of Judge or Goldschmidt.
