2021-22 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Hockey Cards

Will this ever be released? Do we have a 100th approximate date?

Most recent update I have seen is Nov 30th release date now. We’ll be halfway through the next season before it’s released.

Do you still purchase the product?

I noticed at my local card shop that boxes of recently released product are in stock more this summer.

Valid point. I wonder what the price will be.

I believe the release date for Platinum is on September 30.
I ordered 4 cases of it. Looking forward to collecting Cole Caufield rookie cards.

This product is one of my favourite Upper Deck products all time.
It is not an easy product to collect a master set for obvious reasons. If you like collecting variants of your favourite player then this product is perfect.
I still remember two of my biggest pulls were an Emerald Surge /10 rookie autograph of Auston Matthews and an /10 auto of Wayne Gretzky.
I sold the Matthews card for $1200 at the time and regret doing it like so many other cards that I use to own. That is the hobby.
The only downfall is Upper Deck makes us wait until the next season to open the product.
I have lost interest in so many products due to the wait. It does look like Series 1 may be back on track for a normal release. We will have to wait and see.

When is this product coming out? It is now August.

TCB. Great comparison of years above. I agree 100%. UD is just watering this down so they can mass produce and then on top of it, charge more and more. Here is the change in price for a product that is getting worse:

19-20: $80
20-21: $130
21-22: $200

Addendum!

For the season 2021-22 there are 5 #’d parallels par box, not only 2, like before. Actually, that is an improvement comparing to the previous season. It is actually almost the same ratio to hit a #’d parallel as the 2019-20 season. That being said, the price will go up like crazy for sure, not to mention that you get only 1 auto per box for a higher price.

I can’t believe it! Upper Deck simply doesn’t know when to stop!! And people will pay and pay and pay…

In other words, comparing to the previous season, there were 813 more #’d parallels. The product got watered down big, big time. If before one could get 2 #’d parallels out of 783 possible #’d parallel for every player in the base list, now you get 2 #’d out of 1596 possible #’d parallel for every player in the base list, which is more than double. Obviously, the chances to hit something low are extremely bad.

Now, let’s see 2021-22. The product must have been improved, right?

Comparing to the previous year, they removed some of the high numbered parallels, so there are now 1147, not 1596 anymore. This is an improvement, right? Well, not really, since the configuration of the product has changed. There are 144 cards per box, versus 80 cards as they were in the past. So, although the number of parallels per player has slightly decreased, the price of the product will be most probably much, much higher than this year. In other words, people will pay much more for slightly better chances to get a #’d parallel.

But that’s not the worst thing. The number of Autos remained the same comparing to the last year. You’ll still get 16 autos in a case, but again, for a much more higher price, since there are more cards in the case.

In conclusion another watered down product…I’m wondering were will they go with this? I’m guessing they will not stop until stores will get stuck with entire cases of the products on their shelves.
