The MLB cardboard monstrosity returns for another year in 2020 Topps Total Baseball.

The online-only release is again broken down into nine different waves that all combine to grow the massive set every three weeks. The pack price sticks with $10, which includes Smart Post shipping, so the price-per-card remains the same as 2019. If you buy 10 packs, the cost is $90, so you essentially get one pack for free.

2020 Topps Total Baseball Set Details

At 900 cards, completing the 2020 Topps Total Baseball checklist is no small undertaking. This is especially true since the set is issued in 10-card packs and there are 100 possible base cards per wave.

The deep lineup covers top stars and rookies from many of the MLB teams.

2020 Topps Total Baseball Cards - Wave 2 Checklist 2

Like last year, there are limited base parallels and surprise autographs. New for 2020 is the Retired Legend chase insert that is numbered to only 100 copies. However, no odds were provided for any of these possible pulls.

  1. I just don’t understand the concept with this set. Its a throwback to low end baseball card collecting except it has a high price point. Either make it a mass released throwback set with low end price point or make it a high end well designed set with high end price point. Using a low end design then charging premium doesn’t make sense.

  2. I enjoy the concept but the execution is so poor. Its way too much for the quality of card you get. Plus last year virtually every checklist ended up being different from what was listed. I try to get one card of every team each player plays for so total was a real big help with that last year but was very costly. Especially with Topps Update not including any players moved at the trade deadline. Also they should hold back any players on new teams until the season starts. Don’t even think Cole Hamels has been in Braves camp yet he’s on the checklist, so this will probably be some terrible photoshop job.

  3. The wave for topps total is nothing new. I remember up to 1972 topps called it a series. Total is decent looking product at best.

  4. This set is what real baseball card collecting is all about. A base set with just about every player not littered with memorabilia and autos. Low print runs and a challenge to get every card in the set. Thanks Topps!
