User Rating:

Grab potential NHL stars early on with 2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey. The NHL's developmental league is on full display, similar to how Topps provides MiLB sets alongside their MLB offerings.

One key difference from last year is that the box format has changed. In 2018-19, boxes contained eight cards per pack and 16 packs per box. For 2019-20, it's 12 packs with 10 cards per pack, making for an overall decrease of eight cards. However, each Hobby box still averages two autographs.

2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey Base / Inserts

Other than the slight decrease in base cards per box, 2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey is similar to recent years. The small base set features 90 stars of the American Hockey League.

2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey Cards 3

There is also a single insert set to chase. Falling one per pack, the AHL Impact cards highlight 10 top hockey prospects.

2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey Autographs

Moving on to the hits, 2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey makes room for two autographs per box. Possible choices include Base Autographs at 1:7 packs.

2019-20 Upper Deck AHL Hockey Cards 5

There are also the much tougher AHL Impact Autographs, averaging 1:150 packs.

User Reviews

  1. Hey Trey. What do they mean by “similar to recent years”? The last three season there were exactly 100 base cards + 50 or 40 SPs. The inserts were either 30 or 40 cards. From what I understand from the description, this year there will be 90 base cards, no SPs and the insert set has only 10 cards. Am I the only one who doesn’t see the similarity here? Thanks.

  2. Basic set as always is what is meant. Seems like they cut back a bit more than normal. These are early details so nothing is set in stone. And there could be SPs, as well, but there was no mention of it. 2018-19 had 20 Team Leader inserts and that’s it. Small base set, one insert and some autographs. So, generally the same as last year.

  3. Thanks Trey. I was talking more about the number of cards in each set. I understand that the configuration remains the almost the same.

  4. Understood. If this ends up being all there is for 2019-20, it will definitely be a smaller set.

  5. If they would make this a 200 card set and put a finish on the cards similar to the O-Pee-Chee set they’d sell the heck out. Upper Deck is a lot like the NHL–everytime they come to a fork in the road, they go the wrong way. Eventually both will entities will fade into oblivion.
