Just because 2017 Topps Clearly Authentic Baseball is a new product in the Topps MLB arsenal doesn't mean it will feel foreign to collectors. Each box of the acetate product includes one on-card autograph showcasing some familiar designs.

With just one card per box, 2017 Topps Clearly Authentic Baseball only contains a few main options. The Clearly Authentic Autographs set displays the '17 flagship design on a clear stock. Although the design is borrowed, new player images are featured and the product offers both veterans and rookies. In addition, every card is hard-signed and encased. There are also Green (#/99 or less), Red (#/50 or less), Blue (#/25 or less) and Gold (1/1) parallels to track down.

2017 Topps Clearly Authentic Baseball

Less common in the 2017 Topps Clearly Authentic Baseball checklist, the Clearly Authentic Reprint Autograph inserts revisit iconic cards from Topps' history but with the addition of acetate. Signed Bo Jackson and Derek Jeter rookie cards are among the teased options in the solicitation. These cards fall roughly 1:10 boxes, or two per case, and the one-of-one Gold version is the only listed parallel.

User Reviews

  1. I am absolutely on board with this product over another buyback. I look forward to the Clearly Authentic Reprint autographs, as I really enjoy the more creative spin on older cards.

Having 15-20 different types of buybacks of the same card is one thing, but doing something like this is quite another.

    Great job, Topps!

  2. I like the look of these clearly authentic cards that they have there.

  3. I can’t wait for this product! I’m buying a case and will be breaking live if anyone wants to watch, most cards will be for sale. Day of or day after release. @calisaintsfan13

  4. I can’t wait for the NPN info. With those odds per box? Time to go buy some stamps!

  5. One Marlins card in the entire set and it’s Ichiro so it is severely short printed. Come on Topps.

  6. would have like to see a card with DALE MURPHY

  7. Got a Ryon Healy Rookie and a Jose Canseco …not bad. Guess I’ll keep the Healy and sell the Canseco.

  8. Korey, contact Tanner above. The very first poster. I’m sure he’d be interested in your Canseco.

  9. I just busted a case and got a nice haul. 7 numbered parallels in addition to the reprint autos that are numberd. The only drawback was getting a redemption for Francisco Lindor reprint……in a product like this you would hope to avoid those things. It also would have been nice to see Beltre make it in here, if you had to do a redemption that would be the one.

  10. Very nice product at a very reasonable price. Did 2 cases, my retros were Bo, Jeter, Chipper and Mattingly, 2 trouts, an Ichiro, Judge base redemption, 2 Beintendis, and Bryant redemption /50. Lots of dups of guys like Margot, Musgrove, Weaver, Renfroe, and Vogelbach but overall very solid product. Def enjoy the rookie reprints.

  11. I’m diggin the rookie reprints like everyone else but I noticed some of these are not the rookie card year. Like the Rickey Henderson is an 82 and the Ozzie Smith is 83. Wonder why this wasn’t more uniform.

  12. I love acetate and cards look great. There’s definitely filler and some bum cases but at $50-60 a box on average, a lot of cases out there appears to be loaded with judge, jeter, ichiro, trout autos et al. Based on odds, there appear to be about 1600 cases made.

I pulled two Judge autos and a Harper out out a series of a few tins which is abnormally lucky but just goes to show that it’s not a terrible gamble.

Question: I notice there’s two Judge redemption autos : card# AJ and card #AJU. I pulled a blue auto #AJU and I notice that the AJU appear to be scarcer. Is the AJU is a variant? Maybe the AJU parallels are scarcer than the stated print run of /99, /50, and /25? Does anyone know? Thanks

  13. Clearly this is a VERY WATERED down product. Basically two good autos out of a case. My bad for thinking I would find one of the two. Maybe a good buy at $30.00 but not what the price is currently.

  14. I do have a question. Are there the same player using different color ink to sign their cards. I have seen red, blue and black.

    I like the cards overall

  15. Awesome Gold 1/1 cards!! Can’t wait to find the Canseco Gold!!

  16. Beautiful cards but way too many garbage players, especially nobody rookies. I got four Dan Vogelbachs in eight boxes. Of several cases opened by various buyers at my local shop only one Judge auto and nothing else of note. Also, some players have photo variations, for example, the Benintendi auto I pulled. Has anyone noticed? Is one scarcer than the other? And why encase a redemption card? Really?????

  17. I have been very impressed with this product. Out of a case and half, pulled Rookie Reprints of Kris Bryant and Hank Aaron. Pulled an Aaron Judge rookie and Bryce Harper Blue #/25. There are few players that have variation cards. One my be horizontal. If you don’t encase the redemption, buyers would be able to feel the weight difference and know it is a redemption. As far as I can see that the redemption cards are all pretty big names too.

  18. Razzing a case online in 2 box increments
    so far a
1st Judge Blue Redp & Benny
    2nd Vogelbach & Jake Thompson
    3rd Judge & Fulmer
    4th Votto Blue & Bregman

    Not a bad spread considering

  19. these are awesome cards however topps needs to work on their card distribution/randomizationwithin their cases. Three of the same card in one case just shouldn’t happen.

Does anyone know why security tape on some cards is centered and off center on others?
