2016 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Presidential Trading Cards – Losers Update

Taking the typical GPK humor and directing it at the upcoming election, the 2016 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Presidential Candidate cards offer a playful take on the top names gearing up their run for leader of the free world. Exclusive to the Topps Online Store, each batch is only available for 24 hours before it is retired.
Building on the candidate subset found in 2016 Topps Garbage Pail Kids American as Apple Pie in You Face, the first group is essentially a parallel of the five subjects featured in the main release. Highlighting early frontrunners like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, these limited parallels were issued in honor of the Iowa Caucus that kicked off the election season. Although they were printed to order, the 24-hour buying window meant things were still quite limited and the final prints just broke 1,000 for each of the candidates.
Wave two — released on February 9 — is centered around the New Hampshire Primary and features a larger checklist and offers new images for each subject in the expanded field. In addition to the five candidates from the first run, the release adds names like Ted Cruz and Chris Christie. The sales period is again limited to 24 hours and final print runs each hover around the 700s. Like he did in the Iowa Caucus release, Trump again sets the pace for collectors in New Hampshire.
Wave three extended to Super Tuesday with five new card images for the main names left in the race. Once again, sales are limited to 24 hours. Two-card lots specific to each candidate runs $9.99 while the full ten-card set can be had for $29.99.
Mega Tuesday added multiple new cards for the top four remaining names at $7.49 per candidate two-card set or $39.99 for the 16-card set. The sales period was limited to 48 hours.
Another 48-hour release, April Primaries limits the subjects covered to just the five remaining names. Each candidate has two stickers for $9.99 and the full ten-card set is $29.99.
Topps doesn't let up even when the candidates drop out of the race and another 20 cards and ten new images were included in the Presidential Losers set. The release was up for 48 hours at $9.99 per candidate or $49.99 for the full set.
Each of the cards are the standard 2.5" x 3.5" GPK stickers and are printed on 16-point stock. Backs note that they are part of the 2016 Presidential Candidate Sticker run and include the card number.
In addition to the regular cards, oversized 10" x 14" posters ($19.99) can be found on the Topps site featuring base images and Campaign Posters with the New Hampshire images. Subjects include Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton, Marco Rubio, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump. Although the sales period is not limited like the cards, there are one-of-one Gold poster versions for $99.99. In addition, full 5" x 7" sets come numbered to 199, for $14.99, and as Gold versions, numbered to 49, for $29.99.
