Representing the Big Ten Conference, 2016 Panini Indiana Hoosiers Collegiate adds renowned former athletes to the NCAA Panini product line. Each blaster box includes one autograph or one memorabilia card.
Despite the movie Hoosiers not actually being based on Indiana University’s basketball team, most think of basketball upon hearing Hoosiers, and with good reason. Nearly all of the basketball stars representing Indiana in the release are first-round draft picks, as well as All-Americans. Among the standouts are Eric Gordon, Isiah Thomas, a.k.a. Mr. Wonderful, Noah Vonleh, and 2013 Sporting News Player of the Year, Victor Oladipo.
Although not as heavily featured in the 50-card base set, Hoosier football and baseball fans can still find outstanding athletes from the gridiron and diamond. Recent NFL draft selections Nate Sudfeld and All-American Tevin Coleman highlight the set’s football portion. Additionally, Alex Dickerson, Kyle Schwarber, and Micah Johnson are available in their crimson and cream uniforms.
Giving collectors a small rainbow to collect, the 2016 Panini Indiana Hoosiers Collegiate set offers three parallels: Indiana Silver, Indiana Gold, and Indiana Black. In addition to the player cards in the base set are cards highlighting Hoosiers' sports history.
Beyond the moderate base set, collectors are offered two hit options with Autographs and Memorabilia cards, including a parallel for the autographs, numbered to 99. Lastly, the Honors insert celebrates players named Sporting News Player of the Year and All-Americans. There is also a Silver holographic foil parallel for the Honors insert.
