"Flash! Ah ahhhh! Savior of the universe!" If those words still raise the hairs on the back of your neck, then 2016 Funko Pop Flash Gordon vinyl figures might be right up your alley. Looking back at the 1980 film, a total of four figures comprise the initial offering.
Flash Gordon tells the tale of the title character — who also happens to be the quarterback for the New York Jets — as he battles against Emperor Ming the Merciless to save Earth from destruction. Despite modest popularity upon release, the British space opera has attained cult status over the years. There is also apparently a Flash Gordon reboot in the works.
In addition to Sam J. Jones as Flash Gordon, sporting his trademark white t-shirt, and Max von Sydow as Ming the Merciless, the complete Funko Pop Flash Gordon lineup also includes Prince Vultan, leader of the Hawkmen, and General Klytus, the masked villain. Each subject displays the standard Pop! sculpt but with enough to detail to take on the likeness of the character.
2016 Funko Pop Flash Gordon is numbered as part of the main Pop! Movies line. Individually boxed, each of the figures are around 3 3/4" tall.
