Another UD product line to move exclusively to ePack, 2016-17 Upper Deck Euroleague Basketball covers some of the key names from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club competition. Highlighting top pro teams across Europe, the set includes signed cards that average two per box.

Although the 2016-17 Upper Deck Euroleague Basketball set is housed on the digital ePack platform, there is a physical component to it that allows collectors to redeem real cards through COMC (Check Out My Cards). While the 100-card base set can't be put into binders at your house, physical Rainbow parallels are earned by obtaining 10 base cards for any one player. There are also 23 base Autograph parallels, averaging two per box, that can be redeemed for physical versions.

2016-17 Upper Deck Euroleague Basketball

The 2016-17 Upper Deck Euroleague Basketball physical achievement cards take a little more work. Collectors who complete the entire Rainbow parallel set (#1-100) can exchange it for an Anthony Randolph Autograph Achievement card. Formerly in the NBA with several teams, Randolph plays for Real Madrid.

In addition, those who build the 23-card autograph set can unlock the Furkan Korkmaz Autograph Achievement card. Korkmaz was selected in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft (26th overall) by the Philadelphia 76ers. Finally, ePackers who collect the entire High Risers insert (14 cards; 1:12 ePack), earn the Rakim Sanders High Risers Achievement physical card.

While some of the names might not be familiar to stateside collectors, the league is home to several Americans, including Brad Wanamaker, who played college ball at the University of Pittsburgh and also signed for the set. Derrick Brown and Sonny Weems are both former NBA players with autographs in the product.

Since 2014, UD has maintained their exclusive for the popular hoop tournament across the pond. The 2015-16 Euroleague set was released as a standard by-the-box product.

2016-17 Upper Deck Euroleague Basketball packs sell for $2.99 on the UD site while the ePack boxes go for $69.99.

User Reviews

  1. As a base set collector this is very disappointing. I don’t really care about inserts and autographs…don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled to get them, but they are a nice bonus, the base set is what really matters. If I am going to spend money on cards, it’s going to be on actual cards I can hold in my hands.

  2. To be fair, you can still acquire the base parallels in physical form, but I see your point. Why get the license just to move it to ePack where it is not quite the same for a simple set like this?
