Product Details
Originally a popular insert for collectors, Topps Strata has finally gotten the call to the big leagues. 2015 Topps Strata Baseball is a new standalone MLB product and promises two acetate hits per box. All autographs are signed on-card.
With one autograph and one relic card per box, there are mutiple hit options in 2015 Topps Strata Baseball. Among the signed cards, Strata Autographs are the closest thing to a base set and feature over 30 former and current players on an acetate design. Several colorful parallels are also available, including Orange (#'d), Blue (#'d), Green (#'d), Black (#/50), Gold (#/25) and Red (1/1). Strata Signatures offer a layered card with the team logo as a backdrop. Parallels are less plentiful with just Gold (#/25) and Red (1/1).
Likely the most commonly associated design for the brand, Strata Signature Patches include a jumbo jersey patch relic that is embedded in the card and signed on the acetate top portion. Numbered to just 25 copies, there are also Gold (#/25) and Red Rivet (1/1) parallels.
Adding an element long desired by collectors, all Clearly Authentic cards in 2015 Topps Strata Baseball feature relics with an MLB Authentic hologram sticker. This specific level of authenticity is a refreshing change from the ambiguous designation found in most current products. Clearly Authentic Autographed Relics feature a signature and authenticated jumbo relic.
Clearly Authentic Strata Relics are the sole relic card option in 2015 Topps Strata Baseball. In addition to the MLB Authentic hologram sticker, each version of the Clearly Authentic line is available in a variety of parallels, including Blue (#'d), Green (#'d), Black (#/50) and Gold (#/25). There are also several one-of-one Red parallels that add an MLB Logo Patch, Laundry Tag, Button, Button Hole or Majestic Logo Patch.

Product Review
2015 Topps Strata Baseball Product Review
Reviewed by Trey Treutel
Good: Great design, Clearly Authentics Relics include specifics about origin, on-card autographs, quality stock.
Bad: Very delicate cards, main autographs and relics are not numbered, lots of rookies in primary autograph set.
The Bottom Line: 2015 Topps Strata Baseball is a great debut for the all-hits product. The design is impressive and the Clearly Authentics offer what collectors have been demanding for years. Still, the box price for just two cards is a bit steep and the base autograph checklist is perhaps a bit too focused on rookies.
Card Design: 4.0/5.0
Topps knew they had a winner with the original Strata insert design and they did nothing to weaken that with this standalone release. Built with many smaller layers, the cards feature a quality stock, especially the relics.
The vertical base autograph design is completely translucent around the signing area and it is cool to be able to see the on-card autograph from both sides. The circular background design might not appeal to everyone but it is subtle and still does a good job of drawing focus to the subject.
The rest of the cards feature a horizontal orientation, including the Clearly Authentic Relics that come in every box. Admittedly, the MLB Authentic feature is very appealing and it is awesome to be able to see exactly when and where this relic saw action. However, the card we pulled, and many others like it, are still just a single-color piece of jersey on a card that is not numbered.
Another negative thing that stood out from a design perspective is that the cards are very condition sensitive. Despite arriving with a protective layer between the two cards, both cards showed multiple surface scratches straight out the box. This is certainly not ideal.
Checklist: 3.5/5.0
Across the board, the 2015 Topps Strata Baseball checklist is solid. Most of the inserts are loaded with top quality names from the recent past.
While there are certainly big names to be found, just under half of the base autograph checklist is comprised of rookies. Rookies are always part of the equation, but, at this price point, I would expect a tighter subject list given that these are some of the most common pulls.
Value: 3.75/5.0
At $80-90 for a box of two cards, the value equation is tougher to maximize. Hurting that fact is the reality that both cards can emerge without any numbering. Rarity should be a given when you are paying $40-45 per card. Having said that, the specific relic origin, on-card autographs and impressive look help things considerably. While Strata is a gamble like most products are, it seems a little less of risk given that, no matter what, you will receive two premium cards in every box with the potential for something huge.
The Fun Factor: 4.25/5.0
In my opinion, Strata is among the coolest products I have broken in some time. Obviously, it would have been more fun to pull better subjects or more limited versions, but that same case can be made for most box breaks. This is a fantastic entry to the market and I look froward to see what Topps can do to improve on it in future releases.
