2015 Topps Heritage ’51 Collection Baseball Cards

Product Details

User Rating:

Although 1952 Topps Baseball gets all the love and attention, it's technically not the first full-fledged product for the sport from the card maker. That distinction goes to 1951 Topps, which is more of a game than a traditional card set. However, 2015 Topps Heritage '51 Collection Baseball goes back to where it started. It's done as a premium factory set that also includes some inserts and an autograph.

The 2015 Topps Heritage '51 Collection Baseball base set has 104 cards. This mimics the combined size of both the 1951 Topps Blue Back and Red Back sets. While it uses the 1951 design as a template, the checklist uses current players.

Each factory set has 21 total Mini parallels. These are the same size as the original cards. The per-set parallel breakdown is ten Red Back, five Blue Back, three Green Back, two Black Back and one Gold Back.

As far as Autographs go, the checklist is on the small side. Around 25 current players have signatures in the set. According to Topps, they're aiming for as many on-card autographs as possible. That doesn't mean that they all will be, though.

Autograph parallels include Blue Back (#/25), Green Back (#/10), Black Back (#/5) and Gold Back (1/1).

Product Configuration: 126-card factory set
Price Point: Low-End Baseball Card

User Reviews

  1. Awesome tribute to Topps first baseball card set. It’s about time.

  2. Despite a 5 star rating I find two minor flaws; the original cards featured rounded corners, secondly a thicker card stock would be preferred. For the cost of a hobby box I broke the seal with the guarantee of a complete quasi-traded/rookie set and the opportunity at a few scarce parallels, as well as, an autograph checklist that features a short list of the highest ceiling prospects in the game & bona-fide MVP caliber signees, to boot! Topps hit the mark on this reboot issue to continue a strong 2015 campaign. With only the topps mini complete set\’75 mini parallels to look forward to, in my opinion, I’m satisfied with the haul from the hobby set I purchased from the local hobby shop. After seeing 2016’s set design I’m considering a second set of this heritage offering, as I will refrain from purchasing any of the flagship set in ’16.
