Back in the day, we're talking the 1970s and '80s, most action figures required a certain amount of imagination to make them tough. They simply didn't have the detail required to evoke a true sense of badassery. The hooded Cobra Commander is one notable exception, but there aren't many. In a similar vein, albeit with a nostalgic wink, are the 2015 Funko Boondock Saints ReAction figures.

For those who have seen the 1999 film, they know Murphy and Connor MacManus are two guys you don't mess with. And yet, if you're going to take these figures into battle, it's going to take more than just the pistol accessories they come with to make them look like the tough. At first glance, they look like a couple of '90s street preachers stoked to get the new DC Talk CD.

But all of this is by design. Like all ReAction figures, they're done with retro in mind. They harken back to the Kenner toys of the 1970s and 1980s where arms and legs moved up and down and heads spun around in homage to Linda Blair in The Exorcist. They're supposed to look simple.

The 2015 Funko Boondock Saints Reaction line has just Connor and Murphy to make up the lineup. This is similar to the movie's Pop! vinyl figures.
