2015 Donruss Baseball Variations Guide

2015 Donruss Baseball Variations Guide

The 2015 Donruss Baseball Variations seem to run with the concept. Rather than just using one theme, the 18-Up Digital Form Variations as the company calls them, is a cornucopia of variation greatest hits. From photo swaps to reverse negatives to small changes that might require a second look, 2015 Donruss has them all. There's even a Frank Thomas with no name on the front, a nod to the Hall of Famer's classic 1990 Topps card.

A total of 16 players are represented on the 2015 Donruss Baseball Variations checklist. But there are more variations than that. Mike Trout has three different variations. It's likely that the "18-Up" refers to that number of total variations.

Panini hasn't announced insertion rates or rarity of the variations, but they definitely don't appear to be landing with much regularity.

Please note that this is a work in progress and we'll add to it if any more variations are confirmed. That said, we suspect it's complete.

10 Alex Gordon

Please note that Panini has Gordon listed as #10 on the variation checklist but it appears as though it's for his base card.

I just pulled a joe Mauer that is like the Pete rose variation on your list. I also pulled the base card in the same pack. Does anyone know if my mauer is a legit variation? Thanks, I’ll take my response off the air.

If your Mauer has #211 on the back, it’s just part of the regular 1981 subset and not a variation.

i really like these variations! i would have never known they existed without this awesome visual guide that you provided. thank you for doing this! they dont need the team names or city to look good. these variations are getting a lot of action on ebay and i am happy that there are other players out there besides topps. panini and donruss put out some great products and ripping these packs combine the right amount of base and inserts to make it fun at a very reasonable price point. can you let us know if you find out any information about the insert rate or rarity of these variations? thanks again!

they look stupid without the team names or city on the cards why bother

Wait, you can actually tell they’re variations by looking at the front of the card? Well done, Panini.

My eyes are getting way too old to look for serial numbers or “sparkles” on Topps cards!

Of course, even with two different Trout variations, that only adds up to 17. If the theory of there being 18 is correct, what the heck is the 18th?
