2015-16 Panini Anthology Hockey Cards

Still a terrible product even at this price point. Don’t see how you think it’s a steal. It’s like setting money on fire. That comment about it having resale value almost made me fall off my chair laughing. The highest selling card in search from the past 3 months is $100 Like really? How can you even comment saying there is resale value, those patches that some suckers buy are clearly the case hit, like they clearly ran so well just to break even on a $60 card. And then you say valuable pieces of mem, when the jersey cards go for $5-10. How do you think you can break even off this product or at least get what you paid for back worth in a box. Your whole comment is totally invalid and you have been exposed.

I agree totally with Phil. Im not spending my hard earned money either on this garbage.

At the current price, which is about one third the SRP, you can snag some really sweet memorabilia. I’m not a fan of Panini and I would prefer cards with actual player images on them, but these are still valuable pieces of memorabilia that I can’t believe I found at such a low cost. Quality stuff with resale value. This was my best value buy of the year. I also enjoy The Cup and Black Diamond, but the prohibitive cost is a problem. This is a steal.

@robert bauman – “All game worn” – yeah right, that Mike Bossy polo shirt was worn during the Stanley Cup Finals. There are photos of him wearing that polo shirt. And Panini puts it in their product. Talk about unethical practise.

Rest assured, there are Panini zombies that love their product and even this pile of garbage. Any hobby shop or breaker still opening this product should be avoided at all cost, they obviously either have no clue or don’t care about you the collector.

Matt- it is a hobby, but lets not forget how much group breaks influence it. If I go into a group break I want to get value for a product even if I am gambling. Let’s not forget that when you are enjoying the hobby, you are spending your hard earned money to have fun. Anyone with have, if you want to lose money constantly on this product then be my guest. Resale is a big thing in this hobby, people need to try to recoup so they can get back a bit to open there next fix. I hope you enjoy your Tyler Biggs rookie card.

I am glad I came here first before purchasing a box of these. They were 50%OFF a hobby box on a certain website and Its a new product so I was curious as to why? Thanks for your expertise here. I know some just bash products just to bash them but there is absolutely no intrigue in this set.

Great product with awesome mem. To those complaining about resale value, remember that it’s a hobby, not a business. No redemptions is nice and a break from the UD rookie orgie

Bad design, bad checklist, waste of money.

Avoid this product at all costs.
These are the worst cards I have ever seen.
Run. Run far, run fast.

Even the guys getting the best teams in a Random Case Break end up with nothing but garbage.

6 boxes MIGHT give you 1 card that is worth something.

But it will probably still be an ugly looking card.

Tommy- I think you were searching incorrectly on eBay, if you search Panini Anthology then a ton more results show, also the highest a card has sold currently is 150$, patches seems to sell well.

I think the starting price point was ridiculous. This is a more realistic price, but still think it’s a tad high per box. Re sale value does hurt as massives go for $5 and full coverage going for $10, you usually get 3 a box so unless you can get a decent hit, it’s going to be a loss, but that’s a mid and high end products for you. Breakers don’t care what product it is, nor how good it is quality wise unless they can’t unload all there cases of that certain product. Not my cup of tea, but best to luck who’s busting.

I opened one box of this product. I was intrigued on RA coming back after 13-14 was really fun. But this product seems like a final auto dump for Panini in hockey. There are no true RPAs, the card design imo is ugly, the checklist is extreme weak. Not sure why anyone would open this product after seeing the design of the cards now. Game worn patches are nice, but they are hard to pull and the normal jerseys don’t fetch anything. But I’d rather pay the same price for spgu or premier. Let’s be realistic for one moment, and look at the sales and the current prices of cards from this product on eBay. The highest a card has gone is $30 usd, there is mostly only people selling boxes of this stuff on there. The numbers tell the truth from eBay about this. Stay away.

Yup a bunch of us on here told you all it would be bad, it’s actually a massacre. RIP your money for anyone who busted it. Seems like a big price drop already on opening weekend to boot, I don’t think I’ve ever saw that. Hope you didn’t go hard on a lot of the cases TNB. Cause it’s 4 and 24 and were punting boys. After the flawless football fiasco a couple years ago I don’t trust Panini at all on the authenticity of their game worn material.

Hahahahahaha!!! What a joke! I cannot believe a big company such as Panini would actually release a grotesque collection such as this one. Take a look at the players’ pictures…oh, wait there are no pictures. And no logos…Only a cardboard and a sticker with an auto. Can you imagine how much I would like a card of Tyler Biggs who has never played in the NHL, he’s 23 years old, and during the last 3 seasons played for teams in the AHL and the ECHL and had a total of…23 points!!! 23 points in 3 years, and no, he’s not a goalie or a dman! He’s a right wing. I mean no offence for the guy, but I just wanted to prove how catastrophic this product is, because this guy is in the main checklist. The problem is there are many others like him in there.

To be fair, some of their patches are quite nice. Now, are they game worn or manufactured patches?

Wow. I can’t believe this product is for real. I was actually excited when I heard panini was releasing this (not a fanboy one way or the other). But the design is ridiculous and the cards have no appeal – a sticker with a printed name? Random pieces of coloured cloth?
No thanks, and especially not at this price point.

Ugly leftovers that Panini tries to pass as a new release. All sticker autos no photos or logos. No license means ugly useless cardboard.

lol…i now realise why Panini didn’t release any previews of this product. Look, it’s cool they released this hit-only product for their last scraps of what they had left in their agreement with the NHL but they could’ve put a little more effort in the design. It’s just black, gold, silver – every single damn card. Also is this checklist even accurate? How can they make note of which team the card is designated for if they can’t even put the logo on the card? I see this being a major pain in the arse for breakers to sort out with customers arguing over who gets the card.

This checklist is brutal! I rarely criticize a product before its release, but take a look at the checklist. Unless you hit one of the very few decent players or Ovi or Howe, then you got yourself a pile of garbage. No offence, but what decent collection has : Danny Kristo, Jared Knight, Tyler Biggs, Mark McNeill, Mark Visentin, etc. etc. in the main checklist??!! For God’s sake, some of these players don’t even play more than a very few games per year in leagues I’ve never heard about. And Panini puts them on the main checklist!!?? Stay far, far away off this product. Oh, and I forgot, rumour has it there are no pictures. To be fair, I’m not sure that’s the case, because there was no official statement about that, but still…And the price. Come on. If this is going to cost 150-180$ CAD, it means 25$-30$ on average per card. A big NO for me. If it were to cost 30$ the box, perhaps I would think about it.

Wow, anybody whining about how Panini handles redemptions must not be involved in the hobby at all. Yes, redemptions all suck, but compared to Topps & UD… Panini probably is a blessing. Call UD about an expired redemption, see how far you get. Back to the topic… I’m really curious to see this release. I know Panini has a stockpile of assets and Leaf has proven the non-licensed formula can work, eff you haters, go chase UD for your redemptions. What I really want to see is if they deliver for the price point. It is a bit high, but until it releases we really won’t know. I’m just happy to see that UD has multiple competitors even though they have the exclusive license….for now.

Great so Panini is releasing another hockey set yet has piles of redemptions they haven’t fulfilled. Let’s hope this is the last of their junk we have to endure.. Burning your money is a better investment then this.. Spend the money on customer service rather then another lame set Panini…

Holy I miss Panini so much as a hockey card collector…I’m not at all impressed with UD since they’ve absorbed 100% of the market…they put out a whole lot of shyte if you truly look at the the cost of product versus the selling value. The kicker is that UD also releases a new set what feels like every few weeks now bringing down the value of the previous release even more and faster. Panini clearly put in more of an effort of paying attention to quality and proving the bigger bang for your buck. Totally all my own opinion I know but to put it in perspective – I drop 20x more money on 2013-14 panini products to this very day than I do with 2015-16 UD. I eagerly await the day for Panini to be allowed back to the table.

Wait a second how are they putting out this set, I thought there license ending in summer of 2014- 2013-14 Rookie Anthology was one of the last sets they made

looking at this checklist, nothing here grabs my attention. Sure I do like the Howe autos, but if this product is sticker autos, then it’ll be tough to hold its value at 125$ a box. There are some “prospects” I’ve never heard of. This seems like another 13-14 Contenders auto dump. Seems like Panini hockey cards have lost there value on the secondary market since they have been gone. I think it’ll be a massacre for anyone who opens it at that price point.

All you lovers of Panini should go look at what they have done to basketball licensing. You love Panini, why not open a box that is still readily available of their hockey products, find out how little value there is as they mass produced every product they released.

Anthology (geez, could they not think of something more original) will be a sticker-fest but will have the masses drooling for the huge patches/memorabilia.

As far as I’m concerned, good riddance to Panini.

I pray this Continues WHO CARES if its un Licenesed do what LEAF does we LOVE PANINI and want it back no matter what thank god this is coming out this 100% made my day I cant believe thank you panini for hearing our voices we have been crying out literally please dont let this just be the 1 release either we need more still PANINI SO AMAZING they still are redeeming redemptions 4 years okd wow amazing company

Hopefully this is not end but the beginning of a new era of not licensed hockey cards in a quality we know from ITG. With Upper Deck’s boring concepts and Leaf’s horrible design work hockey cards deserve refreshing products from another company. Still hope to see Panini back as a licensed card maker but I am also happy with those news.
