User Rating:

2014 Topps MLB Chipz are back for a second season, offering collectors something different from traditional cards. Aimed at collectors of all ages, you might not want to call them poker chips, but that's essentially what they're like, only featuring baseball players instead of denominations and casino names. In addition to basic Chipz, there are also a handful different chase versions.

The 2014 Topps MLB Chipz base set features 100 players including top veterans and key rookies. It's a fairly straightforward release. Color-Bordered Parallels include Red (1:2 packs), Blue (1:3 packs), Black (1:4 packs), Silver (1:10 packs), Gold (1:36 packs), Glow-in-the-Dark and Magnetic. On average, collectors will find one parallel per pack.

Memorabilia Chipz returns with game-used bat pieces embedded in them. Players with Memorabilia Chipz include Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Joey Votto and Wil Myers.

2014 Topps MLB Chipz also has randomly inserted Instant Winner Chipz. Besides four Chipz, each pack comes with a game board and a team sticker.

Product Configuration: 36 packs per box, 4 Chipz, 1 sticker and 1 game board per pack

I think that they are awesome I love the chips and sound cool on a plane together their lot different than cards for a hundred of them and I think the glow in the dark ones are in this key as are the magnetic ones.

the guy that went off about somebody mishandling cards and how cards don’t get them easy so easy we get it handle cards good and the other guy doesn’t ..point taken dork.

Last reply, Nick Boyer, says: “They hold up much better than standards cards which OFTEN time are already damaged before you even open the pack.”

Uuummm….well, I can;t see how that can possibly be true. Sure, there are inevitably ggoing to be a few packs here and there that are already damaged before you open them. But not “OFTEN times!”

Considering that he thinks that the chips “hold up much better than standard cards,” I am guessing he may not exactly be the best handler of unopened packs of cards.

Sure, chips are going to “hold up much better than cards.” But it isn’t exactly like cards are particularly vulnerable or anything. Especially newer cards. Just gotta handle them correctly.

I love this product. Lots of variety and they hold up much better than standard cards which often times are already damaged before you even open the pack. I pulled a relic chip the other day but it is of Troy Tulowitzki. He isn’t listed in the checklist or even in the price guides checklist. Does anyone have any info on this disc as I have no idea what I really have?

A Great Collectible but you missed some players in checklist. I have a Jacoby Ellsbury chip and Michael Wacha maybe others.

Great product but too many Variations/colors to try and collect all plus I have around 175 Chipz and have not gotten any relics or instant winner chipz in any packs. I have many magnets, mascots, colored chipz, glow in dark and gold parallel but no relics. Cool set though! I’m an avid collector of Baseball cards over 100,000; so appreciate something different.

5 product great, however, I got a rare redemption chip last year odds were low at getting it. After 7 months of waiting after it was redeemed I received an autographed baseball of nick Johnson from 2002. What an incredible disappointment. I was hoping for a prize a a bit more worthy of the rare chip than a retired player from a rookie ball set from over ten years ago. They could have at least had an autographed ball from someone on the chips from 2013.

this is a very neat product. It can be for any type of collector set builder or team Pc collectors. There is a lot of stars and semi stars in this set like cano, tulu, and jeter. I am a set builder so this set is a nice product for a change.

They’re really cheap and fun to collect. Also when you get enough you can actually play poker with them. Pretty fun.

i am a avid sports card collector, have cards of all the major sports, Baseball, Baskeball, Football, Golf, Hockey and Nascar. i probably over 500 thousand cards, in and out of packages, boxes and in albums. i seen a package of four just lying on the sports card shelf at wal-mart this afternoon and bought 3 packages. a couple of duplicates but i hope to buy more in the future and maybe no more duplicates.

What a cool Idea. I love the solid, quality feel of these chipz. There are some that are not on your list though. I got a black chip with the Indians Mascot ‘Slider’ on it. Wasn’t expecting that. Are there more like this? The mystery makes it more fun to collect.

I just pulled one of the instant winner chips out of a pack, went to redeem it and got an error on the website. I called Topps, and I was told that the redemption codes have not been entered into their system yet. I was also told that the redemption codes get you a signed baseball!

Between that, and the addition of relics and autos (and how much my year-and-a-half old son loves playing with them) I think these are great.

My 5 year old first started collecting them last year and loved them. Now with all the new collector Chipz he has been so excited to continue his collection. For him they are great behavior motivation treat and makes it even more exciting for him when he gets his favorite players and gets to learn some new faces.

I think it is a cool and unique product, totally different than the traditional baseball cards. So far I have bought 16 packages and haven’t had a duplicate yet, which is nice. I have had the same player, but it has been in different colors of chips. This is different than when you buy baseball cards. Usually you end up with quite a few duplicates. I am an avid collector of baseball cards (I have over 100,000 cards and counting) and have a lot of unusual collections. For me, this is something refreshing.
