User Rating:

2014 Topps My Hero Baseball is another line of wall art with roots in both the past and present. Based on a set of test issue stickers from 1967, the collection includes 50 different players as well as a bonus print of Don Zimmer that comes with every order.

Offered through Topps.com, prints are available two way. Individual players measuring 11" x 17" are $49.99 each. Collectors can also buy complete sets of smaller 5" x 7.75" prints at a cost of $199.99. Sets also come in a custom wax wrapper.

Full-sized prints and the smaller sets are all numbered to 99.

Players on the 2014 Topps My Hero Baseball checklist span several generations. Past greats include Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson and Lou Gehrig. There are also current stars like Andrew McCutchen, Bryce Harper and Yasiel Puig. Rookies Jose Abreu and Masahiro Tanaka are also included.

2014 Topps My Hero Baseball prints are  printed on vintage-style card stock similar to what you might find in a Topps Heritage set. This is similar to the For Mayor prints Topps offered earlier in the season.

The design is based of one of those used in 1967 sticker sets featuring the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ryan is a former member of The Cardboard Connection Writing Staff.   His collecting origins began with winter bike rides to the corner store, tossing a couple of quarters onto the counter and peddling home with a couple packs of O-Pee-Chee hockey in his pocket. Today, he continues to build sets, go after inserts with cool technologies, chase Montreal Expos and finish off his John Jaha master collection.

This set was originally listed on line as available for 1 week only. Topps took them down after 9 days but sales were very limited for the 5×7 set mostly because of high price and weird size. The large prints are extremely scarce except for Don Zimmer who came along with every one sold. I bought a set new and a Jeter and a Trout large. Anybody else order a large print?

Having always like the 67 stickers I liked this set from the jump. What was unique about this set was that it was only offered for a week (I think it was really available for 9 days) I ordered a large Jeter on the first or second day and a 5×7 set on the last day. Both were numbered low below 20. I do not think they ever released the actual number of prints or sets sold but it is well below the 99 sets produced. Not many folks like the large format, I do!! They display great and the checklist is packed with popular players. I think this set will be a sleeper esp the 5×7 set since it was one of the first offered from Topps via there website only.
