2014 Topps Finest Baseball Rookie Autographs Gallery, Guide

For the early part of the year, autographs in Topps baseball products have focused more on prospects still working their way through the minors than rookies who have made it to the show. It's not there there haven't been any rookies, but they've taken a bit of a back seat. With 2014 Topps Finest Baseball, things change. Not falling under the Bowman banner, it's all major leaguers. 2014 Topps Finest Baseball Rookie Autographs include nearly 30 rookies. So are hot, others not so much. But it's still one of the best looks at the year's rookie crop when it comes to signatures.

Autographs combine to fall one per 2014 Topps Finest mini box (or two per master box). This means there's no shortage of ink. And while 28 rookie signers may seem like a lot, it's actually not too daunting if someone were to tackle the set. Part of that has to do with the reasonable prices a lot of the cards will carry over the long-term.

2014 Topps Finest Baseball Rookie Autographs checklist highlights include Jose Abreu, George Springer, Oscar Taveras and Gregory Polanco. With Topps (and every other card company) unable to get an autograph deal with Masahiro Tanaka, that's the one big omission at this point.

The 2014 Topps Finest design is extremely colorful and polarizing. Some collectors loving it for being different and bright. Others think it's on the gawdy side.

All Rookie Autographs are signed on-card. Another plus for the set is that all the cards are inserted in packs. Other than the planned Mystery Redemptions, there are no redemptions in the product.

Besides regular versions, there are a handful of 2014 Topps Finest Baseball Rookie Autographs parallels: X-Fractors (#/149), Blue Refractors (#/125), Black Refractors (#/99), Gold Refractors (#/50), Red Refractors (#/25), Atomic Refractors (#/5), Printing Plates and Superfractors (1/1).

It is worth noting that it looks like a few players are short prints and don't have base Rookie Autographs. We've noted the following (as well as the most common parallel quantity we've confirmed at the time of writing):

  • Andrew Heaney - Blue Refractor #/149
  • Erisbel Arruebarruena - X-Fractor #/149
  • Oscar Taveras - Blue Refractor #/149
  • Xander Bogaerts - Black Refractor #/149

I heard that DeGrom will be redemption #2. Any idea who the others are?

When can we expect Topps to release the names of the rookie redemptions #1, 2 & 3. Who do you think they will be?
