2014 Topps All-Star FanFest Baseball Cards
Collectors attending the 2014 MLB All-Star FanFest in Minnesota have a shot at several exclusive baseball cards made especially for the event. There are two different 2014 Topps All-Star FanFest sets, a wrapper redemption and a purchase incentive.
The 2014 Topps All-Star FanFest Wrapper Redemption set has seven cards. Most are available free by opening three packs of cards at the Topps booth. Miguel Cabrera, though, is a little different. To get this card, collectors must bring a Target receipt showing a Topps purchase.
Other players in the wrapper redemption set include Joe Mauer, Derek Jeter, Mike Trout, Andrew McCutchen and Clayton Kershaw.
Charlie Brown also makes an appearance in the set. Peanuts creator, Charles Schultz, was born in Minneapolis. His characters have played a major role in 2014 MLB All-Star promotions. This is the second card to feature a character from the iconic comic strip this year. Snoopy can be found on a 2014 Topps Series 2 Baseball Joe Mauer variation.
Besides the wrapper redemption cards, collectors can also find a set of six commemorative patch cards. These have an All-Star patch on them and are numbered to 150. It looks as though one was given out for every $50 purchase at the Topps FanFest booth.
The 2014 Topps All-Star FanFest Commemorative Patch card checklist has a heavy Twins emphasis. Harmon Killebrew, Mauer and Rod Carew represent the team in the set. Derek Jeter, Robin Yount and Ty Cobb are also on the checklist.
In addition to these, Topps has a couple of other items at the event. They're selling smaller 5 x 7 versions of their 2014 All-Star prints. Besides the shrunken size (the Topps.com-exclusives are 10 x 14 inches), these FanFest prints don't appear to be serial numbered.
Topps also has a 2014 Topps Baseball All-Star factory set. However, this isn't exclusive to the event. It has been showing up at many retail outlets as well. These sets have five stamped All-Star cards not available anywhere else.
