2014 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movies is the long-promised Into Darkness set with some added elements from the 2009 films. Led by a strong autograph checklist, the release also includes memorabilia and other inserts.
The 2014 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movies base set center on Star Trek Into Darkness. Instead of targeting the film's theatrical release with limited info and images available, Rittenhouse opted to wait. Now they're able to cover the reboot sequel in its entirety and tell the whole story of the film.
J.J. Abrams' 2009 film gets a 110-card set of its own. While Star Trek had a set in time for its theatrical release, it wasn't able to cover a lot of depth as far as the film itself went.
Both of the 110-card sets have Silver parallels that are numbered to 200. Landing 1:12 packs, each box should have two of each. There are also Gold parallels numbered to 100. These fall one per box for both sets.
One thing the 2009 set did very well was autographs, which included virtually every major cast member. 2014 Star Trek Movies continues with that trend. Autograph signers here include Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Alice Eve (Carol Marcus), Peter Weller (Admiral Marcus), Simon Pegg (Scotty) and Jennifer Morrison (Winona Kirk).
Costume Relics is a 12-card set that uses memorabilia from the film. These are inserted every fourth box and are numbered to 300 or less.
Other inserts include Uniform Badges (24 cards, 1:60 packs) and Star Trek Into Darkness Foldout cards (nine cards, 1:24 packs).
Sold separately, a binder comes with an exclusive 2014 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movies promo card.
Benedict Cumberbatch (Khan) has his first autographed trading card, though it's as a nine-case incentive. An autographed costume card of Pegg is the six-case incentive.
