How to Spot the 2014 Panini Prizm Football Variations

How to Spot the 2014 Panini Prizm Football Variations

Ball in left hand, ball in right hand, twisted to the left, twisted to the right -- 2014 Panini Prizm Football variations take the subtle approach as far as image switches go. Further complicating matters is that some players have just two variations (in addition to the base card), while others have four. And then there are the Prizm parallels that variants are also part of. Maybe the 2014 Panini Prizm Football variations aren't so simple after all.

When the info for 2014 Panini Prizm Football was first released, it gave the heads up that some rookies would be getting the variation treatment. It also mentioned that some would be short prints while others would be super short prints. Panini hasn't released that info yet for or as it works with the players with four variations.

Other than the photos differing, it doesn't look like there's any other trick to spotting one of the short prints.

We've compiled a list of confirmed variations below along with their base card counterparts so you can compare what you've got and spot any short prints.

I’ve been chasing the Red, White & Blue Refractors. The RC’s are very Short Printed, SSP… I’ve called, left messages, finally got a call back today from Panini, couldn’t give me the amount made because it’s, “Confidential”. So I asked for the amount of cases made so I can base my value on the cards by how many I pulled vs. how many are out there. It’s a fair question due to Panini’s false advertising in the Value Packs, which say that you can pull Green, Blue, Regular, Refractor, Gold Autographs but only the RWB Autographs are inserted (Or Point Cards)… So I waited and they just hung up on me eventually. No answer, no idea how many exist other than it must be less than 25 per RC, maybe as low as 10… I know for a fact at least 6 Jordan Matthews exist, why I say 10-25. So we know that Blue n Red in value packs come from Walmart or Taget, Green is also inserted, just no Autographs in those colors in Value Packs. Purple is Blaster exclusive, so how many Purple exist also? I’ve seen very few RCs, but yet the information is not available to the public? Same for exclusive Camo which has variations and Pink. How few RC’s of each exist? Due to failure of knowledge, allowing any information on SSP & SP cards to the public, Panini has made it impossible for set, player and Rainbow Collectors to be able to have an idea how many of each exist or what price is normal. If anyone has any information I’m very interested in finding out any facts or even just their opinion. Thanks,
Kyle

We still don’t know which ones are asp?

Pannini dosent want to conferm which are SSPs because I dont think there are SSPs. I think they are just trying to push sales. How can it take so long to conferm when they produced the cards, and have been known what is what..

Panini still hasn’t confirmed which are the SSP yet.

Oops just rechecked the cards… base and photo variation #3 storylines are about football stats and variation #2 storyline is about life.

Im a raider fan and have all 3 photo variations. I have noticed on the back of the base and photo variation #1 (both hands on ball), that the storylines talk mainly about football stats. While the third photo variation is more about his life. Maybe thats a clue on which is the ssp?

Complete list of variations, which ones are SSPs?? Why do they not mention that they also have refractor variations?? Dont hit us with a sample size when we hunger for a meal.

dj As the article mentions in a couple of spots, Panini has not confirmed the SSPs or which levels of Prizm parallels there are. We prefer not to mislead people with speculation. If Panini confirms the SSPs and exactly which Prizm variations there are we’ll update.
