Breaking Down the 2014 Panini Prizm Football Parallel Rainbow

Breaking Down the 2014 Panini Prizm Football Parallel Rainbow

As with all of the brand's sets, color plays an important role in 2014 Panini Prizm Football. The set's rainbow is huge. Including parallels, every base card has a total of 19 different versions. That's a lot to keep track of for player and team collectors.

Most of the Refractor-like Prizm parallels are your basic colors. However, Panini has continued to experiment with background patterns and color combinations. For example, several of the Prizms tiled logos in the background like the NFL Shield, the BCA ribbon and even Panini's own logo. Others, like Red, White and Blue, blend together. The wildest of the Prizms, though, are the new Tie-Dyed Prizms. Numbered to 25, these distinct color-filled cards would feel at home at a Grateful Dead concert.

Further complicating things for some collectors is the fact that different 2014 Panini Prizm Football pack and box configurations have their own exclusive mix of parallels. Jumbo boxes are the only place you're going to find Light Blue Wave, Camo and Pink Prizms. Red are exclusive to Target and Blue is only at Walmart. The list goes on.

We've broken down the full 2014 Panini Prizm Football rainbow below. It outlines not only all the Refractors but where to find them and how rare they are (for those with announced print runs).

I’m liking the retail blaster boxes, as they guarantee a jersey card. Pulled a Brett Favre jersey today, and a Cam Newton with my first 2014 Prizm box. They’re a little more expensive compared to other boxes($20 for 24 cards) which I usually avoid, but the look and potential value of these cards are worth it. The look for this year is great, and I love the mix of current and former players, as well as the rookie cards.

Wonder why they didn’t do a #/5? It goes from /10 to 1/1. Seems like they have enough color to do so. Although I think it’s already overkill with what they have as it is.
