High-end is a term thrown around a lot in the collecting world these days. While the definition likely changes depending on the specific collector in question, Flawless Basketball sits firmly near the top of that group regardless of your hobby budget. With a box price that also doubles as a mortgage payment, 2014-15 Panini Flawless Basketball oozes with premium autographs, relics and base cards, some embedded with real gems.
At $1,700 for a box of ten cards, it would be easy to label 2014-15 Flawless as excessive or perhaps insane and very few can afford it. However, despite this huge price point, the quality of the cards combined with the interest for high-end basketball cards make this a very intriguing product if you can swing it.
First off, the base cards (#/20 or less) are anything but basic and again feature real gems like diamond and emeralds. USA Basketball cards are a new feature of the main set and include three different gems in each card and then there are also the rookies for top names like Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker.
Impressive patches and on-card signatures extend across the entire checklist and mix current stars, former greats and future stars. Among the standouts, Dual Diamond Memorabilia pairs two top players on the same card with large relic pieces for each. There is even a Logoman parallel. Going the auto patch route, Momentous Autographed Memorabilia and Patch Autographs offer similar attributes but different designs. The Patch Autographs arguably feature the best design in the set.
To reiterate, Flawless is not for everyone and probably not for most collectors. Having said that, they represent some of the most premium cards during each collecting year and the sales prices back that up.
