Long before Black Friday became a thing in the United States, Canadians were celebrating Boxing Day as the big shopping and deals day of the year. With that in mind comes 2014 Panini Boxing Day, a promo set exclusive to Canadian hobby shops. Like their Black Friday (and Father's Day) counterparts, it features an eclectic mix of base cards and inserts from several sports.
The 2014 Panini Black Friday base set has 20 cards. They're joined by 17 rookies that are numbered to 499. Both have Cracked Ice parallels numbered to 499.
Legends is a nine-card insert focusing on baseball, basketball and football players from the past who either played for Canadian teams or for franchises close to the Canadian border. There's a similar Hockey Legends insert dedicated retired greats for Canada's most popular sport. The base inserts round out with Team Colors, which showcases eight baseball, football and basketball players who hail from the Great White North. All three insert sets also have Cracked Ice parallels.
And what would a Panini promo set be without the memorabilia cards? 2014 Panini Boxing Day includes gear from both NBA and NFL rookies. Autographs are also randomly inserted from the likes of Andrew Wiggins, Johnny Manziel and more.
