After successful runs in dozens of areas of entertainment, Funko's popular Pop! line makes its NFL debut in a big way. 2014 Funko Pop NFL vinyl figures capture top players and rookies with the line's distinct look.
Although simplistic, each figure does a good job at capturing the characteristics of individual players. There's Troy Polamalu's hair. Andrew Luck has his beard. RG3 comes wearing a beanie. All players are also in their full NFL uniforms and come with a removable helmet.
The initial lineup includes 26 players from 19 teams. LeSean McCoy and Larry Fitzgerald will expand the release to 28 figures when they release about a month later. The Seattle Seahawks have three figures, the most for any team.
Among the stars with figures are Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Rookies Johnny Manziel, Jadeveon Clowney and Blake Bortles are also among the first wave of figures.
Like other Pop! figures, these stand 3 3/4 inches tall. Each is sold separately. Figures are given a number to help identify them. It also adds a set-building angle to them.
While this marks the first Pop! football figures, Funko has done NBA players and WWE wrestlers. They also did a line of MLB mascots.
