Over the course of more than two decades, Contenders Football has carved out one of the most distinct themes in the hobby. It has also resulted in a loyal following that digs into the deep rookie checklists each year. 2014 Panini Contenders Football is no different. While virtually all of the chase surrounds the Rookie Ticket Autographs, there's plenty in there to go after and keep track of.
Leading the set is on-card autographs from top rookies like Odell Beckham Jr, Sammy Watkins and Teddy Bridgewater. Yes, Johnny Manziel is still a force with this year's rookie crop too, albeit a smaller one. Despite not having any serial numbers, base versions are among the top rookie cards released this year. Add to that some low-numbered parallels and variations and there are plenty of hard-signed cards of the Rookie Premiere participants to find.
Another thing that Contenders has going for it is that it offers autographed rookie cards of players who might not have many (if any) already. Usually this is a caveat for bit players few care about. But even a lot of those have some added intrigue thanks to the magic of short prints. Like the RPS Rookie Ticket Autographs, these also have variations, which also have their own short prints. But without a confirmed list of who the toughest players to pull are, speculation also comes into play as Contenders is a brand that has a dedicated group that opt to chase the entire set each year.
Below is a real-time list showing the 50 most-watched 2014 Panini Contenders Football cards currently up for auction on eBay. While it may not have the most expensive cards, it has a lot of them.
