2014-15 Fleer Ultra Hockey Variation Short Prints Guide
In 2013-14, the NHL played its fair share of modern pond hockey. The Winter Classic, Heritage Classic and Stadium Series took the game outdoors, creating a festive atmosphere, massive crowds and an excuse to see hockey players wearing toques. The games are also the subject of a series of 2014-15 Fleer Ultra Hockey variations.
Upper Deck snuck the variations into 2014-15 Fleer Ultra packs unannounced. They have yet to confirm the full checklist or the odds.
Variants are like base cards only with an alternate photo. The last hockey set to have them was 2013-14 Panini Contenders.
The 2014-15 Fleer Ultra Hockey variations show select players at one of the outdoor games they participated in. For the most part, they're easy to recognize because of the special jerseys used in the games. The one exception is Cody Ceci of the Ottawa Senators. His base card also as him in the throwback sweater. However, he's also wearing a toque in his variation.
You can check out the variations below alongside their base counterparts, making them easy to spot.

I can’t stand these sets with variations, just for the simple fact that some-like these, have no simple way of identifying them. I know Topps has a number on the back that is different if it’s a variation-which is a savior.
With these-I have no clue how to differentiate, other than memorizing which guys have the variations and also what each variation looks like. More hassle and work for my brain than they’re worth-to be honest!!!
