When 2013 Topps Star Wars Jedi Legacy was first announced, a lot of the focus was on the new angles the set brought. The set marks the first time Star Wars relics and film cel cards have been inserted in packs. Autographs, though, have been around for a long time. And when the initial checklist advertised only Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, they became a little bit of an afterthought. How things have changed.
Now that the set's here, there's still plenty of attention on the relics and film cels, and rightfully so. But the final autograph checklist is something of a surprise. In a good way.
Joining Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are 15 other signers, many of which are key figures in the Star Wars franchise. Ian McDiarmid (Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine), James Earl Jones (Darth Vader), Bily Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) all appear. And some other actor you may have heard of -- Harrison Ford (Han Solo). As far as Star Wars autograph checklists go, this is one of the strongest ever.
2013 Topps Star Wars Jedi Legacy Autographs fall 1:3 boxes. This makes them somewhat difficult but certainly not impossible. In the long-term, it should provide a good balance between availability and rarity. If past sets are any indication, don't drag your feet on grabbing a Harrison Ford, though, if you're thinking of getting one. He's been signing more in recent years, but he's still considered a tough signer. It's believed that previous Star Wars and Indiana Jones sets with the Hollywood legend have been limited to around ten copies each. One Jedi Legacy Ford popped up on eBay quickly and disappeared just as fast with a $3499.99 Buy It Now sale in the first couple of days of the set's release.
