2013 Topps Opening Day Baseball variations are a time of celebration and a time of change -- literally. The tough variation short prints highlight several of the biggest off-season trades and free agent signings. They also celebrate the post-season appearances of several teams, most notably the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.
Inserted 1:617 packs, there are more than a dozen 2013 Topps Opening Day variation short prints. Big-name players on new teams are shown at press conferences. Their regular cards show them in their new threads and in action. But these cards have been airbrushed on as the set was released before their debuts. The variations are distinct in that there's usually a microphone in front and a corporate backdrop behind them. Justin Hamilton, R.A. Dickey, Jose Reyes and the Upton brothers are among those that fall under this category.

Post-season celebration variations show Giants during the World Series parade and the celebration that followed. Confetti is a common theme, as are the black hoodies they're wearing. Regular cards show them during a game. Bryce Harper and Yoenis Cespedes also have post-season celebration cards, highlighting their October appearances.
