2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball is one of those products that delivers a lot of unique content. It's right there in the name that it strives to be worthy of display. And while there has been some debate over some of the players included in the high-end product, most of the hobby's favorite greats are well represented on the varied checklist. And sometimes it's the pieces themselves that shine, offering something different for player collectors to chase.

This is reflected in the cards generating the highest sales and buzz. During the first couple of weeks worth of 2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball sales, names like Cal Ripken, Sandy Koufax, Mike Trout and Yu Darvish pop up several times among the top earners. But then there's also guys like Tim Lincecum, Cole Hamels and Michael Pineda (remember him?) who ranked among the highest early eBay sales. Why? Cool one-of-ones that have interesting pieces of memorabilia.

Among early sales, the top card was a cut signature of Ted Williams. What makes it a little different is that the autograph comes from a check that's signed "Theodore" rather than the much more common "Ted." A Yu Darvish was one of several laundry tag cards on the list. With many collectors growing cynical over the origins of game-used memorabilia cards, many of these can be tracked. Many of the tags have a MLB authentication sticker that can be traced here. Checking the database shows that the Darvish tag came from a jersey worn during a game against Boston last July. The Chipper Jones, which ranked third in eBay sales through May 27, cam from a jersey that was "gray with a red number 10." It was worn last July while the Braves were visiting Washington. Perhaps Topps and MLB would be able to work together to include these serial numbers on all jersey cards as part of the text on the back of the card.

Other highlights in 2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball sales include the Momentous Materials Jumbo Relic Autographs, which are numbered to 10, and the framed autographs.
