2013 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Cards

Great seat hard to complete

I was curious if someone can help me out…..I have put together the 2012 and 2013 Sets in full and am almost done with the Autograph Sets. My question is this do these Auto cards even exist ??

top product. great value for 4 hits a box. only problem is the short printed base cards which is keeping me from finishing my base set

Pulled a Chris sale magenta plate. I don’t know the “common” autos in this product but I got a Darin Ruf and Starling Marte, two solid autos.

Nice solid product, I liked the look of the cards when I was signing them. From a major leaugers perspective I enjoy signing cards much more than stickers.

You know, many card collectors alike will complain year after year that these Gypsy Queen cards lack diversity and that Topps re-run the same boring old design year after year; but really I’ve found that these Gypsy Queens are the only retail baseball card collection that actually hold any excitement.

This year in particular, Topps are running out those regular series cards which have the most horrid insert cards I have ever seen and the Archives collection is nothing special either and the odds of getting a nice looking numbered hit is next to nothing.

But with these Gypsy Queen cards there are a wealth of nice inserts to collect, those dealing aces are wonderful and the sharpness of the Glove Stories cards is unreal. What’s more, there is an even mix of old timers and some of today’s biggest stars plus a few top prospect rookie cards thrown the middle. I picked up 2 blaster boxes recently and got 2 relic cards and a black bordered mini, call me lucky if you may, (and I realise that it was) but in my opinion just pulling a sharp looking Lou Gehrig card and a Jurickson Profar rookie card was enough to put a smile on my face for a day.

So really the moral of this ranting review was to point out that no other Topps baseball card collection can churn out hits and inserts like Gypsy Queen can; and sure, the odds of pulling a triple jersey auto card or a game-used bat barrel of Reggie Jackson is as steep and unlikely as it is with any other card collection but at least if you don’t get any ultra-rare, short numbered hits; you’ll still have some pretty awesome base cards to add to your collection, and if you don’t believe me, buy a box; go on I dare you!

I enjoyed opening my box but I have a question. I got a black mini Felix Hernandez in one of my hobby packs but the back was not numbered. I got another black mini in another pack and it was #/d out of 199. Has anyone else got a black mini that wasn’t numbered?

This set got me back into collecting after a 20+ year hiatus. I love the cards, and having missed any of the other products discussed here (older GQ, A&G,etc) I find this set phenomenally original and desirable. One problem, and it’s a HUGE ONE, with all the parallel sets, sub sets, variations, autos, multi autos, relics, books, currency cards, and so many more, I just don’t see how one person can complete this without having A LOT OF MONEY TO PLAY WITH. I may have 30 bucks in a good month and it doesn’t go (and close to a grand I’d say) I really admire (and I’m sick jealous) of all of you on here that have completed or are close to completing it, or the framed versions or etc…. WOW, COLLECTING WASN’T THIS EXPENSIVE OR MADDENING WHEN I USED TO COLLECT. Anybody with me on this??

I’m also looking to complete my mini set, I’m only 57 short. Does anyone know where I could send my list. hard to find exactly what I need on Ebay without spending a small fortune.

I am wondering just how many Jackie Robinson mini relics are or there I’m trying to make the Mimi relic set. I am hooked on this set a and love it. Only 3 cards to go

After a 16 year hiatus from card collecting, 2013 Gypsy Queen got me back into the hobby. I basically bought out my entire country of retail product and then started going to the neighboring county to pick up a few hobby boxes.

Just a month back in and I’ve already accumulated like 90% of a “super” master set including base w/ short print, insert subsets, minis w/short print and white bordered parallel. Heck, due to so much of it being retail, I am 75% complete on a second of the same super master set.

Yesterday, finally, I hit the big one I had been looking for. My 2nd hobby box. I could not wait the half-hour drive home so I cracked open my box in the parking lot. Went straight for the mini box. Nolan Ryan mini auto relic booklet!

I can see why some people would find the set kind of duplicative to last year or too similar to Allen & Ginter and thus not give it the best rating, but for me it’s the set that got me back into the hobby and so I have a special bond to it. I bought up any 2012 Ginter that I could find but it wasn’t much in this area. A few blaster boxes and some packs inserted into those discounted random boxes at walmart. I pulled several red back /25 minis out of just a few dozen packs though. Sweet.

I have a ton of doubles of the white border…….I need 10, 31, 42, 74, 129, 145, 154, 166, 184, 233, 237, 255, 265, 292, 296, 335

I’m also doing the 450 card mini set and the Blue border.

I have 50 cards of the set. Was waiting for an updated checklist before proceeding. Let me know what doubles you have and let’s work something out. Anything you have need of?

Brent…..I am building the White Border Set as well. I have noticed the same exact problem from all checklists I have seen. Makes sense since everyone is copying direct from Topps….I have found the Blue Framed checklist to be potentially the same as the white and am closing to having it complete. I would like some confirmation that the blue and white border list is the same and the current checklist for white border is not valid.

Once again great set, but 50 short prints in the base set. Price cuts into collecting other sets. End up over $100 for a 350 card set.

My white framed cards and your list don’t exactly match…I have a 337,328,321,313,292,265,263,257,243,237,229,224,221,220,207,199 and a bunch morethat aren’t on your 100 card checklist. What gives? I would like to complete this set but need a checklist. Please help.

I bought 1 box off ebay on my iPhone while in the hospital. When I got home I opened it and it came with 2 relics and 1 auto instead of 2 autos I was and still am furious. I am very stressed because I was at Mass general in Boston and in there during the marathon bombings. It just makes me wonder what could my missing auto be probably something great a gift from the baseball card gods! Well, unfortunately I will never know. I have been a collector for 20 plus years and I am disgusted!

You are missing 1 card from the list, GKA-KYP Katie Kypros who is the Gypsy Queen and the Gypsy King is GKA-STA Mark Stanley. There are only 25 of these cards and they are autographed. Don’t believe me? Find them on Ebay.

Regular sets, Minis, different colored borders, photo variations, sepia tones etc. This is getting OLD…

This years is supposed to be better than last years, time will tell.
I did see a N. Ryan auto pulled, I have bought 3 boxes and the best auto I’ve pulled is a redemption for M. Machado, so who knows, like I mentioned earlier, time will tell on this product.
Last years was great, again, we’ll see.

This is a great product for teens into collecting like my brother and me. It offers two nice autographs, even if they are lesser known players, and a relic. It’s around $10 more expensive than Ginter, but the numerous sp, #ed cards and rare 1/1s makes it far more appealing to us. Let’s hope I hit a nice card!

Same design year after year.
Come on Topps, surely somebody can come up with something new and different. If nothing else I’ll have my 10 year old granddaughter do a design to send in.

Why is this product out BEFORE the
release date?

I just got a retail box from walmart today and i got a number 1/5 card that has a 1999 new jersey quarter in it. Any idea what this is unless I missed it it was not on the checklist.

Dang. This just terrifies me.

Last year I got hooked into the Gypsy Queen set and didn’t quit until I completed a full master set and near complete mini master set including all 3 main variations of minis.

I don’t think I’m up to it this year. It’s like it was so daunting and unforgiving that I’m just not feeling it. Maybe I’ll stick with Heritage this year or try and snipe a set of these on the cheap on Ebay, but it’s just such a huge checklist with the minis that it’s a little too daunting for me this year.

LOL another crappy Topps baseball product with the same hall of famer autos and mem cards over and over and over and over in all of their products… LOL I’ll pass thanks. I’ll save up for the next National Treasures Baseball whenever that comes out.

How come so few HOFers in the regular auto checklist (Ripken, Ryan, Mays, Gwynn) when so many more have signed relic cards and multi-auto cards?

2012 errrr…I mean 2013…GQ looks fantastic!

UNGGG skip numbered SP’s again. Oh Topps I thought you got over this in 2010. A set builders nightmare. But I like the overall look and design and you get much more value per hobby box than Heritage that has a very similar price point. If I had to choose between a box of GQ or Heritage I’d go for GQ in a heart beat. But I think I’m going to save my money for A&G.

considering the fact that i’m still trying to put together the 2011 gypsy queen set, this will sadly have to be a pass for me, despite how much i’ve loved the set for the past two years.

This is my favorite “standard” Topps product and the release I’m most looking forward to, regarding 2013 baseball card releases.

While Allen & Ginter seem to be the hobby’s charmed/hated darling, I find GQ to be consistently churning out a beautiful and appealing series.

Of the few previewed cards above, that Molina “Collisions” card is awesome and I’m looking forward to what promises to be an action-packed series.

The product sounds excellent and as Topps continues the ascent with producing this product the quality looks to improve. Most important, I really appreciate this site and the quality exposure offered for the benefit of the consumer public.
