The 1965 Tallboy Autographs are rare parallels of the popular mini card set in 2012 Topps Football. Other than the shrunken dimensions, they mimic the design of the 1965 Topps Football set. Most collectors will recognize the look from Joe Namath's rookie card.
The 35-card 2012 Topps Football 1965 Tallboy Autographs features players from the NFL Players Rookie Premiere. The checklist runs from numbers 142 through 176 (#166 does not exist). Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and other key 2012 rookies are all in the set. The cards have emerged as one of the most popular in 2012 Topps Football.
So far, an Andrew Luck 2012 Topps Football 1965 Tallboy Autograph has sold online for $1,000. A Robert Griffin III went for just a dollar less. Several other players have closed in the $200 to $350 range. Even common players are approaching $40 a piece.
According to case breaker and Cardboard Connection contributor Brent Williams, at least one high-profile collector is going all out on the set and helping drive sales.
