One of the challenges of buying vintage autographs on the secondary market is that there are so many suspect signatures out there. 2012 Onyx Icons Collection Baseball adds a layer of security for collectors, which is especially important given the legendary names on the checklist. The memorabilia release includes a checklist of autographed baseballs signed only by Hall of Famers that are guaranteed by Onyx. Collectors can look for names like Mickey Mantle, Satchel Paige and Hank Aaron. Onyx is also holding a contest for an autographed Babe Ruth baseball. Entries are inserted in random boxes with the giveaway happening at the 2012 National in Baltimore. The product is limited to 700 signed baseballs.
