When it comes to high-end rookie cards, few (if any), are more popular today that National Treasures Football Rookie Signatures Materials. They have all the benchmarks of an ultra high-end rookie card: on-card autographs, large patch swatches and low serial numbering. The 2011 National Treasures Football Rookie Signatures Materials cards continue with the trend.
Numbered to 99, each card is an official rookie card. Most seem to have multi-color patches that are further enhanced by a regal border. The horizontal cards also have an action shot of the featured player and a hard-signed autograph. The signing area on the 2011 National Treasures Football Rookie Signature Materials cards is a little small for some of the wilder autographs, but some may also argue that's a tradeoff of having such large memorabilia windows.
The cards have four parallels: Gold (#/49), Black (#/25), Platinum (#/5) and Red (1/1). Although they're inserts and not rookie cards, they still command high prices on the secondary market.
The 2011 National Treasures Football Rookie Signature Materials checklist consists of 36 players. All participated at the 2011 NFL Players Rookie Premiere. Numbered 301 to 336 in the 2011 National Treasures Football set, they close out the high-end checklist. The deep rookie crop includes such standouts as Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Mark Ingram and A.J. Green.
Of note is the fact that after more than a week in release, no copies of the regular version of card 311, Austin Pettis, have shown up on eBay. Multiple gold parallels of the card numbered to 49 have sold, but none of the basic version. We're looking to see if the card wasn't made or if it's just a matter of none being listed. We'll pass along any updates when we receive them. The Pettis card pictured is the Gold version of the card.
