2011-12 Panini Prime Hockey Prime Rookies are among the hobby's premium rookie cards for the year. The cards are hard-signed, have four memorabilia pieces and numbered to 199. This high-end trifecta should make them among the season's most popular rookie cards over the long-term.
Prime Rookies fall one per single-pack box. With 65 in the set, not every one is going to be a winner. However, there's also a lot of upside for hobby favorites like Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Adam Larsson.
For big-time player and team collectors, not all of the jersey patterns are the same. The same player may have some cards that are all the same and others that have two colored swatches and two white pieces. Patch and prime swatches are reserved for parallel versions numbered to 50 or less.
One thing collectors will want to watch for when they're buying 2011-12 Panini Prime Hockey Prime Rookies are the autographs. Some show signs of beading. With glossy surfaces, sometimes ink doesn't stick well. Some, but not all, of these cards show varying degrees of the ink pooling together. The result is an inconsistent look to the autograph.
