2010 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Review

2010 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Review

Staff Rating:
4.5 / 5.0

Good: Hot Boxes, 6+ hits per box, best die-cuts in the business, best EEE card design ever, perfect price point, autographed cards of numerous 2010 MLB draftees, Pamela Anderson cards, extremely deep checklist.

Bad: Lacks MLB license, inserts aren't numbered, likely the products last season in baseball cards.

The Bottom Line: Simply put, the best Elite Extra Edition of all-time and one of the most polished prospecting products in recent memory. The autograph checklist features a who's who of the 2010 MLB Draft and a slew of additional up and coming prospects. The card design is a polished as ever, each box delivers a minimum of 6 autographs and with a $100 box price is one of the best values of the year. 2010 Elite Extra Edition is an absolute prospector's paradise!

Design: 4.25/5
EEE's card design has never been better, even the Sticker Drops look great, which might be a first for Panini. The foil board formula seems to have been tweaked a tad causing a welcome subtle glisten to the appearance of every card in the set. You won't find a more collectible or better die-cut in the business that Elite's Status & Aspirations die-cuts. Bottom line, best looking Elite ever.

Checklist: 4.5/5
The checklist is absolutely stacked, featuring over 200 prospects, many of which were top picks from the 2010 MLB Draft or haven't had a major autographed card yet. Jonathan Singleton, Michael Choice, Christian Colon, Manny Machado, Delino Deshields Jr, Dee Gordon, Jameson Taillon, Josh Sale, Zack Cox, the list goes on and on! They even found a way to fit autographs of Pamela Anderson, Cal Ripken, Bo Jackson, Paul Molitor, Randy Johnson, Jack Morris, and a slew of other intriguing names onto the checklist.

Value: 4.75/5
6+ prospect autographs and several low-numbered Aspirations and Status die-cuts per box for around $100 is one of the best deals in business. I pulled 7 autographs and several die-cuts, the crazy part is that EEE always seems to under-promise and over-deliver. The value per box doesn't get much better than the latest edition of Elite Extra Edition.

Enjoyability: 4.75/5
As I noted above, Elite Extra Edition is a Prospector's Paradise. The excitement of pulling 6+ numbered prospect autographs per box is as fun as it gets, the best part is that you usually end up pulling more than 6, I can't even imagine how fun it would be to open a hot box of this year's Elite. Great product, can't recommend it enough!
