User Rating:

1985 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Series 2 sees an expanded checklist with more gags. Add to that a ton of variations and you've got a set that casual collectors and hardcore Garbage Pail Kids fans can find something worth chasing.

The set has 41 new characters. Each has A and B name variations, making for an 82-card base set. On top of that, 49b, Schitzo FRAN can also be found as Fran FRAN. The variations don't stop there. About half the set also has variation backs, each of which has distinct differences. Finally, the cards can be found with both a glossy and a matte finish.

Most consider a run of 82 to be a complete set. Ideally, all cards would be either glossy or matte. Major collectors and completists are likely to go after all the different backs as well as card stocks.

1985 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Series 2 wax packs have a blue background. A banner on the side notes the series number. Wrappers can be found with or without a 25-cent price tag.

Although not as pricey as 1985 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Series 1, the series does command a something of a premium over some of the middle series. The cards are also a little tougher to find, but certainly not rare.

User Reviews

  1. Hello Ryan,
I recently came across my 1985/86 GPK cards (approx 1000 cards). I think they are in excellent condition. Could you refer me somewhere to get an accurate price on the cards.

  2. Checking completed auctions on eBay is probably your best bet if you don’t have access to a local card or comic shop.

  3. First, the add at the top for series 2 for $22 is bogus it says the 1980’s cards but when clicked it goes to the remakes.

Second- I had a huge collection of gpk cards stolen recently while moving. Just trying to slowly rebuild. If any has any original series 1-15 lots/singles/sets they would like to help out a life long gpk fanatic with a fair price let me know. I am working on completing series 2now but missing about 65 cards (includes name variations) let’s Know thank you. Post on here and Ivan send contacts Info. Thanks much.

  4. I went back up to top of page and realized the series 2. 1985 info wasn’t connected the buy it now box below its o apologized I r that.

ATT: Chris poster above me with the 1000’s of gpk cards, if you would like to discuss selling some/all without dealing with eBay fees and what not let me Know. I have PayPal and an eBay account which had thousands of positive buyer/seller reviews but unfortunately it was deactivated as I was out of the country for a few months and they delete them after 90 days with no way of getting em back (believe I tried). I started a new one though. Let me know if interested and we can talk more. Thanks
