Hollywood is banking on The Avengers to be one of the biggest films of all-time. Upper Deck is looking to capture some of the action with 2012 Upper Deck Avengers Assemble trading cards. The release sets the stage for the blockbuster with a look back at the films focusing on core characters like Thor, Captain America and the Incredible Hulk. The 176-card base set also promises collectors and movie buffs a hint at what they can expect when The Avengers hits the big screen.
Hobby boxes come with three hits: a Sketch Card, either a Memorabilia Card or a Duo Memorabilia Card, and either a Trio Memorabilia Card, Quad Memorabilia Card or a Printing Plate. Memorabilia cards come with costume swatches worn in the film.
Confirmed 2012 Upper Deck Avengers Assemble Autographs include Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Kat Dennings, Idris Elba and more. A handful of the cards are on designs from last year's Thor and Captain America designs, presumably because they arrived too late for inclusion.
Keeping up with previous Marvel-themed Upper Deck releases, numbered Ultimate Panel Cards include embedded comic pieces from classic comics. Ultimte Panel Cards and Autographs fall at a combined two per case.
Every hobby pack of 2012 Upper Deck Avengers Assemble comes with one of three basic inserts: Classic Covers, Heroes and Villains and Concept Series.

After having spent $176 on every pack of cards I could find in any store, I have come to believe there are no rare cards in those packs. They must be only in the boxes. Which are only available for astronomical prices from third-party sellers. And would you believe after buying 79 packs I am still missing at least 6 cards from having a whole basic set? Depressed.
