2014 Panini National Treasures Baseball CardsBrand: National Treasures
After sitting out 2013 save for some inserts in America's Pastime, 2014 Panini National Treasures Baseball sees the return of the ultra high-end brand. Once again mixing current stars, rookies and retired legends, boxes come with just eight cards. However, all are either autographs, memorabilia or gem-embedded cards.
At least four autographs are in every box. Among them are Rookie Signature Materials (#/99) that have a jumbo swatch to go with a signature. Jose Abreu, George Springer, Gregory Polanco, Matt Shoemaker and Mookie Betts are all in the set. The late Oscar Taveras is as well. Without an autograph deal in place, Masahiro Tanaka has a similarly designed Rookie Materials card that has the over-sized relic.
Star Silhouette (#/99 or less) bring over the familiar autographed relic that has been most prominent in Panini's Crown Royale line. These have a over-sized swatch layered under a die-cut player image. The cards are also signed. Prime versions are numbered no higher than 25. There are also one-of-one laundry tag and brand logo parallels. Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey Jr, Barry Bonds, Nolan Ryan, Jose Abreu and Carl Yastrzemski are among the past and present stars in the set. Prospects with Silhouettes include Kris Bryant and Joey Gallo.
Baseball Die-Cuts are shaped on one side to resemble a ball. Though not as colorful, the design is reminiscent of one used for autographs in 2000 Pacific Crown Royale Baseball. These are numbered to 99 or less.
Made in the USA (#/99 or less) puts national pride on display, using a flag to go with an autograph. Players from outside America are noted with international versions.
In addition to the four promised autographs, 2014 Panini National Treasures Baseball boxes also have a book card. Star Jumbo Materials have a massive piece of memorabilia on one side and an autograph to go with a player image on the other. Nickname and Stat parallels are numbered to 25 or less.
Some of the top cards in the product can be found in Legend Cuts Jumbo Materials. Numbered to 25 or less, these pair a cut signature with an over-sized relic. Like Star Jumbo Materials, there are also Stat and Nickname versions. Honus Wager, Ty Cobb, Nap Lajoie, Roberto Clemente, Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig are just some of the all-time greats in the set.
Bat Barrels come with the nameplate from a player's bat. Derek Jeter, Yasiel Puig, Roger Maris, Mike Trout and Clemente are among those collectors can find.
Gem-embedded Flawless (#/20) cards are the only cards in 2014 Panini National Treasures Baseball that doesn't have either an autograph or a memorabilia swatch. Parallels include Emerald (#/5) and Diamond (1/1).
